Dreamsnatcher

I have decided that I must capture some of the wonderful conversations and experiences I have enjoying with my grand kids. I'm starting today. Nothing could be better than spending time with grand kids! What a gift.
On Fridays I get to tend Matthew and Kaylee in the afternoon. Matthew just turned 5 last month. Kaylee will be 7 in November. We call these days "triple A Fridays". Always, awesome??? Ok I just forgot the third A. I'll ask Matthew.

Today I gave Matthew a dream catcher. I explained that the Native Americans had made these for their children. That they hang them over their children's beds to catch the bad dreams and the good dreams go through the hole. Their children remember the good dreams.  I told him that they had made this for him. He was so impressed. His eyes were big. He held it and admired the feathers and the beads.
"Grandma, the Indians really made this for me?"
"Yes they did."
"Does this really work? It's like magic."
I replied "It is like magic. Matthew, if you believe that it will work, then it will catch your bad dreams."
"Grandma, this is such a nice gift." He held it and paused. "Can we give the Indians a gift?" At this point the tears came to my eyes.
"Yes we can send them something. What would you like to give them?"
He thought for a minute.
"I have a bow and arrow. I have 5 of them. We could wrap them up and send them to the Indians."
"We could do that. . . .or you could tell me what to write and we could send them a note. You could draw a picture. We could send them some money and they could buy what they need."
"Let's do that Grandma. I really like this dreamsnatcher." We wrote a note and sent it with some money to the Indian School that had sent the dreamcatcher.
When we got home he found the tape and he tried to tape it to his ceiling above the bunk bed. That didn't work. I went and got the tape. He asked for 4 pieces of tape and he taped it to his wall. It wasn't long until he admitted he was tired and he laid down under his "dreamsnatcher" to take his nap. He had a very nice nap.
